Tsukuba Model United Nations

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations in which students learn to negotiate and debate diplomatically while striving for solutions to issues that affect the world today. Universities from around the world participate in these MUN conferences and the University of Tsukuba is no different.

The Tsukuba Model United Nations group was formed in 2013 and has participated in conferences in the United States, notably one of the largest MUN conferences in Washington, D.C. This student group, which consists of students from a wide range of countries and backgrounds, has grown in just a few years to become a symbol of Tsukuba’s unique international culture and proves that people around the world can overcome their differences and come together to solve global problems. School of Social and International Studies have financially supported our delegates with respect to conference trip and accommodation.

School of Social and International Studies has also hosted workshops in which high school students have opportunities to learn MUN. Our student group plays a pivotal role here. Our students share their experiences at MUN conferences and let high school students experience MUN conferences through demonstrations designed for beginners.
